Back to Seoul, South Korea for the next week of LCK Spring 2024, now in its second week. Opening up the new round of confrontations will be FearX and Hanwha Life Esports.

It's hard to call this match a top match or one that's worth all the world's attention. And yet, it remains important and necessary, because LCK is the best region in the world, and the fight for 2 places at once at MSI 2024 continues.

We will try to figure out which of the Hanwha Life Esports - FearX pair will be stronger and get the first win in the second week, and who will start the new LCK Spring 2024 stage with a loss.

Let's open the showdown with an analysis of HLE's match form. In this match the team will play as clear favourites to win. In general, HLE look like a team capable of fighting for a place in the top 2, but there are Gen.G and T1. But that's not what I'm talking about right now.

HLE, being a solid mid-tier team, can reach the late stages of the regular split. And it only started to happen in 2023. Before that, in the 2022 season, HLE were the worst team in the race, twice finishing in the top 10 in regular splits.

They managed to improve by 2023, after a major Reshuffle. Two reigning world champions joined the HLE roster, which strengthened the club considerably.

With the addition of Zeka and Kingen to the HLE lineup, it was clearly more vigorous. So much so that they made it to the top 4 of LCK Spring 2023. The latest addition to HLE is Grizzly, a jungler who got promoted from the academic roster.

It seems to be working out pretty well. HLE finished in the top 3 in the regular season, which with teams like Dplus, T1 and other top teams is pretty good.

In the first play-offs match HLE warmed up against DRX. Nominally reigning world champions couldn't do anything against their visions and HLE easily closed the match with the score 3-0.

Then the situation was not so rosy: HLE ran into Gen.G and fell 0-3. The favour went to the bottom set of play-offs, but it did not save them for long.

Hanwha Life Esports faced KT Rolster in the first match of the last chance grid. The pressure was too hard and HLE was washed away: 0-3 and a play-offs exit, and at the same time not a pass to Worlds 2023.

They tried to make it to the Worlds in the regional finals, but again failed. The final LCK tournament of the season finished in the top 3, having failed to use either of the two attempts to qualify for the Worlds: they lost first to KT Rolster with a 1-3 score and then to Ledge or DPlus KIA with the same score.

HLE will start their LCK Spring 2024 journey with a match against DRX. They should have no problems there. Neither should they have any problems in their match against Freecs, which is their second match.

HLE utilise a wide pool of characters for the top line. The most popular are Gnar (12 matches, 75% wins), KSante (5 matches, 40% wins), Ornn (4 matches, 75% wins), and Sion (4 matches, 50% wins).

Sejuani (9 matches, 11% wins), Vi (7 matches, 85% wins), Elise (4 games, 75% wins) appear most often in the forest.

Azir (9 games, 55% wins), Sylas (5 matches, 80% wins), Kassadin (5 matches, 80% wins), Akali (4 matches, 100% wins) appear on the centre line.

Shooters are chosen as standard: Zeri (11 matches, 63% wins), Varus (7 matches, 42% wins), Caitlyn (7 games, 57% wins), Lucian (5 matches, 80% wins).

Supporting heroes are Lulu (10 games, 70% wins), Heimerdinger (7 matches, 42% wins), Lux (6 matches, 66% wins), and Nami (4 matches, 75% wins).

FearX uniforms

We continue the analysis of the match by analysing the FearX form. In this match they will play in Underpassdog status.

FearX is a relatively new name in LCK. The team shone on the competitive scene back in 2018, but got to LCK 2024 through the merger of Liiv Sandbox and SANDBOX Gaming, so when analysing FearX, we will rely on that.

Having been on the competitive scene since 2018, they started playing on LCK in 2019. First it was Top 5 at LCK Spring 2019, followed by Top 4 at LCK Summer 2019 and Top 3 at Regional Finals 2019, which wasn't enough to attend Worlds 2019.

What followed was a string of failed performances and playing at TIR tournaments. Things started to turn around in 2021 when FearX, while still Liiv Sandbox took Top 4 at Regional Finals.

It wasn't going badly in 2022 when SANDBOX were one step away from Worlds. First they finished top 3 at LCK Summer 2022 and then top 3 at Regional Finals, Ledgeiv DRX at 2-3, failing to make it to Worlds. By the way, DRX won Worlds that year, so there you go.

2023, on the other hand, was a flop, after a pretty good showing the previous season. LCK Spring 2023 was top 6, and LCK Summer 2023 was top 7.

• FearX lineup: Clear, Willer, Clozer, Hena, Execute.

FearX changed their roster significantly during the November 2023 transfer window. Clear, Clozer, Hena and Execute joined the team, while jungler Willer remained the only player from the previous roster.

In the first LCK Spring 2024 match, the team will play against KT Rolster. The revamped Telecoms should run over their less serious counterparts, and FearX should approach the game against BRION with a 0-1 score in the table. BRION, on the other hand, need to win if we're talking about wanting to reach the play-offs.

The most popular character for the top line remains KSante (7 games, 42% wins). Gnar (6 games, 83% wins), Fiora (5 games, 60% wins) are also taken.

On foresters there is nothing fundamentally new: Sejuani (7 matches, 57% wins), Wukong (6 matches, 66% wins), Maokai (4 games, 100% wins).

In the centre, the favourite patch champion is Azir (7 matches, 85% wins). Beside him are Akali (4 games, 25% wins), Sylas (4 games, 75% wins).

The most favoured ADC is Varus (6 matches, 66% wins). Lucian (4 games, 100% wins) and Ashe with Caitlyn (3 games and 66% wins each) are also popular.

Among the support players Heimerdinger (5 games, 60% wins), Karma (4 games, 50% wins), Ashe (3 games, 66% wins), Nami (3 games, 100% wins) stand out.
