According to Dexerto, Virtus.pro players will take part in ESL Pro League Season 15 under the "Outsiders" tag. The organization itself gave permission to participate in the championship a few days ago.
Recall that earlier ESL suspended the Virtus.pro and Gambit Esports teams from participating in their tournaments, including the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 15. The tournament operator explained his decision by the fact that the organizations are somehow connected with the Russian Government. However, ESL did not restrict the players and allowed them to compete in the championship, but under a neutral status.
Later, the Russian club issued an official statement in which, in addition to responding to the accusations, it officially allowed its players to play in the tournament under a neutral status.
Virtus.pro is one of two Russian organizations that ESL believes have ties to the Kremlin. The Russian state insurance company Sogaz has a controlling stake in Virtus.pro and owns VK. In addition, the owners of the club are included in the sanctions list of the European Union.
Despite this, Virtus.pro maintains that the organization is not affiliated with the Russian government, adding that the club has provided ESL with the necessary documentation in this regard.
Gambit Esports, another organization identified by ESL as having ties to the Russian government, has yet to state if their team will participate in ESL Pro League Season 15.
ESL Pro League Season 15 itself will be held from March 9 to April 10 in Cologne. "Outsiders" will take part in Group B, which also includes FURIA, FaZe Clan, Sprout, Vitality and ENCE.
