Team Liquid sensationally loses to Eternal Fire at ESL Pro League Season 16

The Eternal Fire team quite unexpectedly outplayed Team Liquid in the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 16. Thanks to this victory, the Turkish team scored the first three points, thus joining the fight for reaching the championship playoffs. In turn, the North American team suffers a second defeat in a row, aggravating its position in group D.

The second match of the game day started on the Vertigo map, which became the choice of the Turkish team. It is noteworthy that the "liquid" were not afraid to start for the attack, where they took seven rounds and had excellent chances to take the initiative under their control - 8:7. However, after the change of sides, the game broke into segments, the key of which remained with hardstyle wards. As a result, Eternal Fire managed to show an excellent attack and took the lead in the series — 16:13.

Then the teams moved to the Inferno map, which became the choice of Team Liquid. And again, the first half was held in an equal fight, but now with a minimal advantage in favor of the North Americans - 8:7. Nevertheless, after the change of sides, the Turkish team again took control of the game, thereby putting the pressure on the opponent and getting the first victory in the championship — 16:11.

In the final round, the North American team will face Cloud9, while Eternal Fire will play with the Spaniards from Movistar Riders.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North and South America compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
