FURIA defeats Evil Geniuses and advances to the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 16

The FURIA team turned out to be stronger than Evil Geniuses with a score of 2:0, thanks to which they ensured getting into the playoffs of ESL Pro League Season 16 - the Brazilian team is fixed on the second line of group D. In turn, the North Americans reserve the chances to get into the playoffs, which requires the defeat of Team Liquid from Cloud9, as well as the calculation of additional indicators.

The second of three matches of the final round started on the Overpass map, which turned out to be the choice of the North American team. At the same time, Evil Geniuses got off to a pretty good start in the series, gaining a minimal advantage over the side switching — 8:7. In the second half, the teams continued to exchange rounds until FURIA took an important round with pistols and strengthened their positions. As a result, the Brazilians took the initiative under their control and took the lead in the series — 16:11.

Next, the teams moved to the Nuke map, which became the choice of FURIA. And again, the first half ended with a minimal advantage in favor of Evil Geniuses — 8:7. After the change of sides, the teams continued to keep the intrigue. However, in the very end, the FURIA players managed to snatch the advantage, thereby securing the final victory in the series — 16:12.

To get ahead, the North American team is waiting for the defeat of Team Liquid from Cloud9. In this case, additional indicators will be calculated.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North and South America compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
