Pauses in the match NAVI — Heroic were caused by a DDoS attack on the players

The ESL tournament operator named the reasons for the technical problems during yesterday's match between the NaVi - Heroic teams as part of the first round of the ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs. According to Ulrich Schulze, vice president of the company, DDoS attacks were made on individual players.

The delay of yesterday's final match at ESL Pro League Season 16 was caused by a targeted external attack on individual players. After we identified the problem, the match could resume. We've taken several steps to mitigate this for upcoming matches and have also passed on our findings to Valve .

Recall that on the third map of yesterday's match, NAVI players encountered several problems due to which they could not move and continue the round. As a result, the administrators unsuccessfully tried to fix the server, but the problem still returned. However, after a long pause, the teams continued the match, the winner of which was NAVI with a score of 2:1.

ESL Pro League Season 16 runs from August 31st to October 2nd in Malta at the Salini Resort. 24 teams from Europe, CIS, North and South America compete for a total prize pool of $835,000. The winner of the tournament will receive the main prize of $175,000, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
