The last IEM Rio Major 2022 became the second tournament in the history of CS:GO by the number of hours watched. The championship in Brazil was inferior in this indicator to last year's PGL Major Stockholm 2021. Esports Charts, an analytical service that collects statistics on esports events, shared the data.
The event collected a little more than 69.2 million hours watched, which is more than two million hours less than during the PGL Major Stockholm 2021. PGL Major Antwerp 2022 remains on the third line in the history of the discipline, which lost to the last tournament in Rio de Janeiro for 1.1 million hours watched.
Recall that the Outsiders team became the winner of IEM Rio Major 2022 , beating Heroic in the grand final with a score of 2:0.
It should be noted that the most popular match of IEM Rio Major 2022 was the quarterfinal match between the teams FURIA and NAVI, which scored over 1,380,000 spectators at the peak. The Grand Final Outsiders - Heroic remained in second place in terms of popularity, gathering 1,148,606 viewers.
IEM Rio Major 2022 was held from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro conference center. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and South America, and Asia competed for a total prize pool of $1,250,000, ranking points in the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023 for the winner.
