Evil Geniuses crashes from BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023

The Evil Geniuses team lost in the derby to Complexity Gaming with a score of 1:2, thus being eliminated from BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023. Evil Geniuses took the last place in the championship, earning $5,666 and 600 points. In turn, the North American team Complexity Gaming advanced to the second round of Play-In, where they will play with NAVI.

The North American derby kicked off on the Anubis map of choice for Complexity Gaming. At the same time, the wards of Tc immediately seized the initiative in attack to close the half with a devastating score — 11:4. After the side switch, Evil Geniuses failed to return to the server, allowing the hosts to take the lead in the series — 16:7.

Next, the teams moved to the Inferno map, which turned out to be the choice of Evil Geniuses. Here the game became more equal, as the first half ended with a slight advantage in favor of the "Evil Geniuses" - 9:6. After switching sides, the teams continued to breathe in each other's backs, until at the very end Evil Geniuses took the game into their own hands and equalized the score in the series - 16:12.

Everything was decided on the Overpass map, where Complexity Gaming took advantage of the defense start and knocked out a great advantage towards the end of the first half — 11:4. After the side switching, the players of Evil Geniuses still tried to return to the game, but very soon the wards of Tc turned the match around to knock the opponent out of the championship — 16:8.

BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2023 takes place from January 19 to 29 in Copenhagen. As part of the competition, 12 partner teams compete for a total prize pool of $177,498, ranking points, and six tickets to the BLAST Premier Spring Finals 2023.
