A pretty big CSGO is returning to our screens. BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023 is getting ready to welcome 8 teams from the European region to find the strongest.

The winner of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023 will earn a place at the autumn finals - BLAST Premier Fal Finals - where the world's strongest teams will battle it out in a race for $1,000,000.

The first round of the single grid play-offs is now underway in Europe. In one of the quarter-final matches Cloud9 and Movistar Riders will play.

The teams are quite vigorous, that's for sure, and that's why we are waiting for a fast Counter-Strike, with potentially The International interesting outcome. At the same time, we are trying to figure out how this match will end, which of the teams will move on and earn a pass to the next round of BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2023, and there to fight with the winner of the G2/OG pair.

Cloud9 Form.

Let's open the match breakdown with an analysis of Cloud9's form. In this match they are predicted to be the favourites.

At least, esport betting sites believe in the success of C9. The odds for their victory are at around 1.15.

Frankly, I don't quite understand why there is so much faith in C9. I agree that Cloudy is still favoured by Movistar Riders, but to have such a significant gap is a bit much for me. Especially considering Cloudy's performance at the last big championships.

C9 had a pretty good half year. "The Cloudies made it to the ESL Pro League Season 17 Grand Finals and won the BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2022.

Before Gamers8 Cloud9 attended another major summer tournament - IEM Cologne 2023. The most prestigious event went well for Cloud9: not good, but not bad either.

A very difficult Long Corner in Cologne forced Cloud9 to mobilise all their resources in order not to drop out at the group stages, and these resources were enough until the first round of play-offs, where C9 were dealt with Vitality.

Next, C9 visited Gamers8, but even there everything was not so good. At the TOP-8 stage the team faced ENCE, and they were unable to do anything against the overclocked Finns. And that's how they ended up in the TOP-8.

In their debut match at EPL Season 18, Cloud9 played against Eternal Fire. The Turks, being a cheerful team on paper, failed to outplay C9 at least on one of the cards: the match ended with the score 2-0 (16-11 Vertigo, 16-12 Eternal Fire).

In the play-offs match C9 faced Complexity. Being the absolute favourite of the match, Cloud9 failed to give CoL a fight and lost 0-2.

Cloud9's failures didn't end there. After getting into the net of the last chance of EPL Season 18, Cloud9 lost 1-2 to Liquid in a rather lacklustre manner, thus failing to qualify for the play-offs of the prestigious tournament. At the end of EPL S18, C9 finished in the top 20, which is, to put it mildly, weak for a top-tier team, which C9 was labelled as by literally everyone in the world.

The best C9 map is Vertigo. It has 2 wins in 3 matches.

Next comes Inferno. On Inferno Cloud9 played 5 times, of which they won 3 matches.

Minus winrate on 4 maps at once: Ancient (42% wins in 7 matches), Overpass (33% wins in 3 matches), Anubis (3 matches, 33% wins), Mirage (2 matches, 0 wins).

We continue our match analysis with Movistar Riders' form. In this match, the Spaniards will play the second number.

Bookmakers do not really believe in MR. The odds for their victory are at around 4.

Again, as far as I am concerned, such a figure has nothing to do with reality. At least the last EPL shows that MR is a team capable of putting up a fight.

The Spanish club has had a hyper saturated year. However, busy doesn't always mean productive.

Among the many events Movistar Riders mostly attended small championships with a very dubious pool of participants, but there were also quite prestigious events. Among those worth mentioning are CCT Central Europe Malta Finals, where MR took the top 4 and Elisa Invitational Winter 2023, where they also finished in the top four.

When it comes to the top events, last season of the ESL Pro League was definitely one of them. At ESL Pro League Season 17 Movistar Riders were ranked in the top 16 and they have already repeated this result, and to break it it is enough to win the only Bo3.

Movistar Riders played a number of small events like CCT Online Finals #2 and qualifiers for IEM Masters Sydney before the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Conference, where they didn't find success. Movistar Riders won the RTP Arena Cup 2023, boosting their morale before the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Sogpeg.

The Pro League itself is going extremely well. Movistar Riders made it to the second round of play-offs by advancing to the final of the top grid in Group A: they beat FURIA and GamerLegion 2-0, but Ledge and Vitality 0-2.

In their first match Movistar Riders faced 9Z Team. The equal match ended logically, on the 3rd map, but in favour of the Spaniards from MR.

MR's next and last match at ESL Pro League Season 18 was a match against ENCE. The Finnish top club slammed the Spaniards without much difficulty and as a result Movistar Riders left the championship in the top 8.

The most successful map for Movistar Riders is Nuke, where the Spaniards have 3 wins and 1 loss. Next comes Vertigo with a score of 2-1 and Ancient with a score of 3-2.

Neutral choices are Inferno and Anubis. Both maps have been played 4 times and on both maps the stats are 2-2.

The worst situation is on Overpass, where MR won 2 matches out of 6.

Every time I review Cloud9's form, I somehow believe that they are about to play. And I'm wrong almost every time.

I don't believe in a clean win for C9 in this match. They are looking for "their game" for too long and it seems that there is no game at all. However, it's hard to believe in a clean defeat of Clouds, so I assume that C9 Ledge will play on one card, and then as it goes.

Bottom line: Fore + 1.5 on Movistar Riders.
