We continue to keep an eye on what's happening at IEM Katowice 2024. This is the first $1,000,000 tournament in 2024, where a total of 24 teams will play.

Competitors will battle it out for both the $1 million and the two tickets to future prestigious championships: BLAST Premier: World Final and IEM Cologne 2024. First we'll look at the Play-In stage, where 8 of the 16 teams will qualify for the group stage, where the TIR-1 teams will be waiting for them.

However, there are some serious clubs in Play-In as well, such as BIG - ENCE. Let's watch their match more closely, and at the same time we'll see which team will be stronger in the upcoming match.

BIG uniforms

We start the match analysis with an analysis of BIG's form. The Germans will play as favourites in this match, with odds to win at around 1.7, which hints at a close match.

In the 2023 season, BIG have participated in a lot of championships, but there have not been many decent results. They started top-9 at BLAST Premier: Spring Groups 2023, and went on to top-16 at IEM Extreme Masters Katowice 2023.

There was also an appearance at ESL Pro League Season 17 with a top-20 there. The failures partially managed to cap off the Top-4 at the Elis Invitational Winter 2023, where the team reached the Top-4.

In the middle of the year, the Germans failed to qualify for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, finishing top-11 at RMR Europe and then top-3 at qualification. In the second half of the year they started playing CCT Series championships, where it is worth noting CCT Online Finals #1, with TOP-4, CCT West Europe Series $4 with TOP-2.

Back to the S-Tier tournaments with BLAST Premier: Fall Groups 2023 with Top-9, and then Top-24 at IEM Cologne 2023.

Prior to the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Round, the team played at Thunderpick World Championship 2023: European Series #1 with a top-2 finish. There was also a top-8 at CCT East Europe Series #7 and a win at CCT Europe Series #7.

At ESL Pro League Season 18 they debuted with a match against Monte. The Ukrainian club fought honourably, but in the end they were defeated by Ledgeil with the score 1-2, putting BIG in the semi-finals of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 18.

In the previous match, BIG made perhaps the biggest sensation of the tournament. The Germans defeated Heroic, sending them to the bottom of the group.

Next, BIG played another big European club - ENCE. The Finns failed to win (1-2), but BIG made it to the play-offs, straight into the second round. That's where their ESL Pro League Season 18 journey came to an end.

BIG Ledge and Eternal Fire in the second round of play-offs with the score 0-2. Thus, the Germans took the EPL S18 top-12.

In the match before that, BIG played against 9INE. The Germans defeated their visions quite easily, closing the match with a score of 2-0.

Afterwards, BIG outplayed ENCE and advanced to the finals of BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown 2023. However, BIG were not enough for the final as C9 won 2-0.

Prior to the Roobet Cup 2023, BIG played two CCT tournaments. It was CCT North Europe Series #8 and CCT East Europe Series #3. They finished in the top 16 at the latter, but won the North European tournament, beating Spirit 2-0 in the grand final.

The Roobet Cup 2023 ended quite well for BIG. The team finished in the top 8, and repeated that result at Thunderpick World Championship 2023. They also played at CCT Online FInals #4, where they finished in the top 3.

In the first match at CCT Online Finals #5 BIG played Zero Tenacity. "The Germans proved to be stronger, easily defeating ZT. In the next game BIG faced Guild Eagles and were stronger, and very confidently - 2-0. Next, the BIG stage opponent was 9 Pandas and once again the Germans did not feel the enemy. A confident 2-0 against the Pandas led them to the final of the upper grid. There they slammed Aurora without much difficulty and later repeated this in the grand final of the tournament.

BIG started the tournament with a rather lacklustre loss against Vp, but followed it up with a colourful and hard fought win against Heroic. Even more colourful was the victory over Cloud9 in the lower finals match, where BIG shut out the "titular" Americans 2-0. However, it was not possible to come out of their group victorious and Vp repeated their debut success. Next, BIG fought Astralis in the match for the BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2024, but failed there as well.

BIG Mappool

BIG has 3 of the best maps in their arsenal. They are Overpass, Vertigo and Anubis with 5 matches and 3 wins on each.

The most played map is Ancient. BIG have played 14 matches there and have a 57% win rate.

The most unlucky map is Inferno with two wins and two losses. The worst map is Mirage (9 matches, 33% wins).

ENCE form

We continue the analysis of the match with the analysis of ENCE form. Here the Finns will have to play as the number two, with the odds of winning around 2.1.

Last season the team finished top-3 on CCT Central Europe Malta Vibes, top-4 on ESL Pro League Season 17, and also reached top-8 European RMR B - qualifying event for BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023. ENCE also played at the Major, but it was TOP-14, which is hardly a worthy result.

IEM Dallas 2023 turned out to be much more pleasant. ENCE looked quite cheerful throughout the event, which allowed them to defeat MOUZ in the grand finals with a score of 2-0. Just before IEM Cologne 2023 ESL Challenger Katowice was played, where in the grand final they had to defeat Vp with 1-2 score.

ENCE have been playing in a stable roster for almost half a year. SunPayus and NertZ, who have a KDA of 1.12, are the headliners of the roster.

Thanks to their victory at IEM Dallas 2023 ENCE started Cologne from the group stage. The first opponent was the Poles from 9INE, who gave the Finns serious problems, but lost with a score of 1-2 and a series of dops on the decisive map.

The next match was a match against Fnatic. ENCE won both maps, leaving Fnatic no special chances.

In the match for the Grand Final ENCE played against Heroic. Being an outsider, the Finns took a very good approach to the match and shut down the top 1 team in the world with a score of 2-1 in a tough Bo3.

Next up was a match against Vitality and as a result a passage to the Grand Final of IEM Cologne 2023. ENCE was not enough for the title, G2 Esports were stronger.

After an offensive Cologne 2023 ENCE started Gamers8 on a high note. They defeated Liquid 2-0 in the first match of the tournament.

In the semi-final match they played against Cloud9. Again, the Finns closed the series with a score of 2-0, leaving little chance for the Americans.

Later ENCE beat Heroic again, and dry, and in the grand final Gamers8 faced Vitality. Again, ENCE failed to take the title, Ledgeiv with a 1-2 score.

At the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Round of the ESL Pro League, ENCE faced off against Evil Geniuses. The North American club even gave a fight, but only on the second map (14-16 Nuke), but still lost.

ENCE faced MIBR in the match to reach the final of the top grid of Group B at ESL Pro League Season 18. The new generation of the legendary Brazilian tag showed beautiful CSGO, and it was enough for one map.

Before the play-offs, ENCE defeated BIG in a match to advance to the quarter-finals. The game ended 2-1, and ENCE were the winner of their group.

In the quarter-finals ENCE played against Movistar Riders. As expected, the Spaniards couldn't offer any proper resistance and were swept on two maps (16-2 Overpass and 16-5 Anubis).

ENCE's journey to ESL Pro League Season 18 ended at the semi-final stage. The Finns Ledge and future tournament champions MOUZ lost 1-2.

They played at BLAST Premier: Fall Showdown, which they failed. At the tournament the Finns finished top 4, which is hardly a serious result considering the level of the championship and the teams that played there.

ENCE also played at IEM Sydney 2023 - the first major tournament in CS2. There they managed to reach the play-offs of the championship, but in the first match of the main stage Ledge and FaZe Clan, who later became the champions of the tournament.

Later was CS Asia Championship 2023, where ENCE made it to the top 4. ENCE's record also includes Top 4 at Elisa Masters Espoo 2023 and Top 8 at BLAST Premier: World Final 2023. ENCE unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for IEM Chengdu 2024, but failed in the qualifiers, falling out at the TOP-33/64 stage.

ENCE has two 100 per cent maps. They are Nuke, already used at IEM Cologne 2023 with 9 wins in 9 matches, and Anubis with 5 matches and 0 losses.

Still playing Ancient (66% wins in 3 matches). Still playing Mirage (9 matches, 4 wins). Vertigo with 2 wins and 3 losses and Overpass (2 wins in 7 matches).

In this match my favourites are on the side of BIG. They look more presentable, and taking into account ENCE's performance at Long Conference 2024, I think the Germans will be able to take this bo1.
