Monte and Movistar Riders are among the play-offs participants. Both teams are pretty big names, so their face-to-face match promises to be hot and can definitely be considered the centrepiece of the game day.

We will try to find out who of the pair Monte/Movistar Riders will be stronger and get the victory in the first round of play-offs, to play later with the winner of the pair BIG - Aurora in the semi-finals of Roobet Cup, and who will have to leave the event at the first stage of play-offs.

Monte became famous thanks to their performance at the BLAST.tv Paris Major. At the Paris Major, unexpectedly for many, Monte made it to the top 8, but in the first match of play-offs Ledge and GamerLegion.

Before the Long Cologne IEM Cologne 2023 they had a series of unsuccessful tournaments. They finished top-16 at the next CCT, this time North Europe Series #5, and top-8 at the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023.

After a great run at BLAST.tv Major 2023, Monte left the headliner of that roster - BOROS, and was replaced by Astralis Talent member - Danish br0.

Monte rolled out the roster at Play-In IEM Cologne 2023, where they defeated Brazilian teams twice: first Imperial 16-9 and then FURIA 2-1 in the series. Monte beat GamerLegion in the group stage, but were unable to face more serious opponents like Heroic. IEM Cologne 2023 ended with a match against Cloud9. Monte tried, but Ledgeilie more titled club with a score of 0-2.

Before ESL Pro League Season 18 played a number of local championships. Among them were CCT Series tournaments, where Monte finished in the top 4, and top 2 at CCT North Europe Series #7, and there was also Pinnacle Cup V, where the Ukrainian club again finished in the top 4.

In the debut match at ESL Pro League Season 18 they met with the Germans from BIG. As expected, the match was equal, especially on the first two maps, but the decisive one was very lopsided: 16-5 in favour of BIG and Monte fell to the lower grid.

In the first round of the lower grid Monte played with the nominally weakest participants of Basket B - Australians from Rooster. It looked like they were going to close with a 2-0 score, but it turned out that there was no need to be happy before the time, and Monte Ledge were on the first card, but then cameback, thus turning the series in their favour.

In the previous match Monte played against MIBR. As in all other matches on ESL Pro League, the game was tense and hard, but in the end the Brazilians triumphed.

Next, Monte managed to get through the last chance net. First they outplayed Heroic with a score of 1-2, and then took revenge on MIBR.

After a real success in the group, Monte made it to the first round of play-offs. There they showed a very serious level of play, defeating Fnatic, Complexity and then Vitality. They were beaten by NaVi, winning the semi-finals 2-0.

Before playing at Roobet Cup 2023, Monte played at IEM Sydney 2023, where they showed a pretty good, but not perfect, game. Monte finished the Sydney tournament at the top-8 stage.

Monte played their debut match at Roobet Cup 2023 against OG. They won 2-0, running over their opponents on class.

Monte qualified for the Roobet Cup 2023 play-offs after a solid win over NiP. The match, by the way, was very intense, although it ended 2-0, the two maps were a struggle: 13-11 Overpass, 16-14 Mirage.

Mapple Monte

Monte's best map is Ancient. There Monte has 7 wins in 9 matches. However, Mirage can also be called a signature choice for the Ukrainian club: it has been played 13 times and won 10 of them.

Things are not bad on Anubis, where Monte has 8 wins and 4 losses.

The worst is Vertigo. There Monte have a statistic of 2-4.

Movistar Riders form

The Spanish club have had a hyper saturated year. However, busy doesn't always mean productive.

Among the many events Movistar Riders mostly attended small championships with a very dubious pool of participants, but there were also some quite prestigious events. Among those worth mentioning are CCT Central Europe Malta Finals, where MR took the top 4 and Elisa Invitational Winter 2023, where they also finished in the top four.

When it comes to the top events, last season of the ESL Pro League was definitely one of them. At ESL Pro League Season 17 Movistar Riders were ranked in the top 16 and they have already repeated this result, and to break it it is enough to win the only Bo3.

Movistar Riders played a number of small events like CCT Online Finals #2 and qualifiers for IEM Masters Sydney before the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Conference, where they didn't find success. Movistar Riders won the RTP Arena Cup 2023, boosting their morale before the ESL Pro League Season 18 Long Sogpeg.

The Pro League itself is going extremely well. Movistar Riders made it to the second round of play-offs by advancing to the final of the top grid in Group A: they beat FURIA and GamerLegion 2-0, but Ledge and Vitality 0-2.

In their first match Movistar Riders faced 9Z Team. The equal match ended logically, on the 3rd map, but in favour of the Spaniards from MR.

MR's next and last match at ESL Pro League Season 18 was a match against ENCE. The Finnish top club slammed the Spaniards without much difficulty and as a result Movistar Riders left the championship in the top 8.

Prior to the Roobet Cup MR played at the BLAST Premier: Fall European Showdown, where they didn't reach any great heights. Departure in the top 8, with 8 participating teams - you can understand.

There was also ESL Challenger at DreamHack 2023: European Qualifier, where in the match for the grand finals MR Ledge and Frenchmen from Looking4Org.

At the Roobet Cup they debuted with a victory. MR Ledge defeated 9z Team 2-1. Later MR lost to Vp, and reached the Roobet Cup play-offs after defeating 9z Team in the decisive Group B match.

Movistar Riders Mappool

The most successful map for Movistar Riders is Nuke, where the Spaniards have 3 wins with 1 loss. Next comes Vertigo with a score of 2-1 and Ancient with a score of 3-2.

Neutral choices are Inferno and Anubis. Both maps have been played 4 times and on both maps the stats are 2-2.

The worst situation is on Overpass, where MR won 2 matches out of 6.

Mirage are not playing.

Since this is the match of the day, it should end up as a full-fledged Bo3. And I believe it will, as both teams have been quite buoyant at major international tournaments over the course of the year, but I still see Monte winning. The Ukrainian club seems to have caught the wave, and CS2 is very much to their liking.
