Updated format of ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 presented
Tournament operator ESL has presented an updated format for holding ESL One Stockholm Major 2022. Among the changes are the cancellation of the WildCard stage and direct invitations to the championship playoffs.
From now on, there will be no invitations to the playoffs at ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, which professional players have repeatedly spoken out against, criticizing the format of the event. Recall that before the tickets were given to teams that became champions in the first divisions of their regional leagues.
All 18 participating teams will be divided into two groups (nine teams each). Six teams from each group will advance to the playoffs of ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, where they will form a classic double elimination bracket.
Schedule of ESL One Stockholm Major 2022:
- Group stage: May 12-17.
- Playoffs: May 18-22.
Prize pool distribution:
- 1st place: $200,000.
- 2nd place: $100,000.
- 3rd place: $75,000
- 4th place: $50,000
- 5th-6th place: $25,000.
- 7th-8th place: $12,500
ESL One Stockholm Major 2022 will be held from May 12 to 22 in Sweden at the Hovet Arena Stockholm site. The championship will be attended by four teams from Western Europe and China, three teams from Eastern Europe (under question), two teams from North and South America, and three teams from Southeast Asia.
