Tournament operator WePlay Esports announced its intention to block employees of third-party studios for covering regional qualifiers for The International 2022. The management of WePlay Esports explained its decision by the rules of the community cast, which apply to official broadcasts not only in English, but also in Ukrainian.

On August 29, our team was happy to share the news that WePlay Esports will become the official broadcasting studio for the International 2022 regional qualifiers in Ukrainian. This project is incredibly important to us, and we are working non-stop to ensure that the Ukrainian-speaking community is satisfied and that everyone who wants to watch this Dota 2 holiday in their native language can do it.

However, since this news was released, there have been questions regarding the community cast qualifiers, so we would like to clarify a few things.

On August 29, PGL, as the official organizer of The International 2022 regional qualifiers, published in advance the rules for the community cast qualifiers. One of the main points is a ban on community casts for studios that have not received the right to broadcast, as well as their employees. Such broadcasts are regarded as commercial and are subject to blocking.

This and other rules are valid not only for Ukrainian-language broadcasts, but also for streams in other languages without exception. PGL, as the organizer of the tournament, operates within the limits of its established rules, and we respect and adhere to them. Previously, WePlay Esports offered talent from other studios to join the cast of our broadcast, but they did not agree to the offer. If they have changed their mind, we are open to communication.

Recall that WePlay Esports received the rights to cover regional qualifiers in Ukrainian. The studio organizes four parallel broadcasts of matches in 6 regions over 15 days.

Regional qualifiers for TI11 started today, September 3rd. Follow developments in all six regions with the EGW portal.
