Welcome to EGamersWorld.
Once again we are watching the virtual stage of The International 2023 - SEA Qualifier. This time we're talking about what's going on in the lower grid, where the fate of most of the clubs is decided. Among them are Bleed Esports and Geek Slate.
Both teams are showing pretty good Dota 2, but not enough to stay in the top grid. And if it's not surprising to see Geek Slate at the bottom of the table, then Bleed Esports looked like a top grid team and was until they got to Blacklist, but more on that later.
Now we're talking about the match between Bleed and Geek Slate, where the fate of the two sides is decided. The winner goes on to play against the winner of the pair in the Execration vs BOOM/Army Geniuses match in the next round of the lower grid. The loser - finishes at The International 2023 - SEA Qualifiers and flies past the main tournament of the year in October.
We'll be looking at which of the teams will be stronger and continue on their way to The International Qualifiers, and who will have to kiss their claims to the main tournament of the year goodbye.
Let's get started.
Bleed Esports uniforms
We start the match analysis with the analysis of Bleed Esports' form. In this match, the team is playing the first number one.
Bookmakers believe in Bleed after they got to the bottom of the net. The odds for their victory in this match are at 1.4.
It is easy to understand such a figure. Bleed came into the tournament as one of the 4 main favourites with 500 DPC points. However, this does not decide on qualifications.
The year started with a performance at the local M.Invitational 2023. Bleed won that tournament, beating BOOM in the grand finals.
Next up was an "inside" performance at the DPC. The first two rounds proved to be a challenge: at DPC SEA 2023 Tour 1: Division 1 Bleed finished in 6th place with a 3-4 score, and then repeated the "success" of the first round, again finishing in the top 6, but now even closer to the critical mark of 7th place. At DPC 2023: Sea Division 1 Tour 2 Bleed played with a score of 2-5.
The quality boost that brought 500 DPC points to the club came in the third round of the DPC. Quite unexpectedly, Bleed beat all the competitors in the region, including Talon Esports, and finished in the top 1 in the league.
- Bleed's roster: JaCkky, Kordan, iceiceice, DJ, DuBu.
The last championship before the qualifiers for The International 2023 was the Major in Bali. Home Major, which Bleed finished in 13-14th place.
In the first round of qualifiers, Bleed faced Boom Esports. The once prime team of the region could not put up a fight and as a result Bleed passed Boom with a score of 2-0.
Iceiceice and company faced Blacklist International in the semifinals of the top set. Raven and other Filipino legends did not leave Bleed Esports a wet spot. The match ended with a score of 2-0 in favour of Blacklist.
Bleed Esports' most popular heroes
Mirana, Tusk, and Primal Beast are among the most picked heroes. All have 6 matches and 83% wins.
In addition, Monkey King and Ember Spirit appeared in spades (5 games each and 100% wins). Death Prophet also played 5 matches, however she won 4 matches.
Also Jakiro (3 matches, 100% wins), Enchantress (3 matches, 100% wins). Abaddon (2 matches, 66% wins), Broodmother (2 matches, 100% wins).
Geek Slate uniforms
We continue our match breakdown with an analysis of Geek Slate's game parameters. They have to play as a number two.
This is also indicated by the bookmakers. Odds for Geek Slate victory in this match is at around 2.6.
Given the general position of the teams on the regional scene, this is quite a working indicator. Moreover, Geek Slate are battle-hardened and are showing their teeth in this qualifier.
Geek Slate has been on fire this season. Geek Slate looked especially quality earlier in the year, at DPC 2023: SEA Upper Division Tour 1.
In the first DPC Tour, Geek Slate unexpectedly finished in the top 2 of the league. Thanks to this performance, the team made it to the Major for the first time in the club's history.
To go to Lima Major 2023 they went, but did not manage to rock there. But the failure of the performance at Lima Major 2023 can not be called a failure: Geek Slate played the group with the score 2-3-3 and left the tournament at the stage of group stages.
Then there was a clear decline. Geek Slate finished top 7 in the second round of the DPC, followed by a drop to the lower division. In the break between the second and third rounds of the DPC, the team took part in 1XPLORE #1, where they took the first place.
- Geek Slate line-up: Ulnit, Kokz, Force, NARMAN, skem .
The last tournament before the Long Copeg qualifiers for The International 2023 was the third round of DPC, but in the second division. There Geek Slate had no equal and closed the tourney quite easily with a score of 7-0.
In the first match Geek Slate played against Team SMG, one of the 4 contender teams to qualify for The International through the Southeast Asian qualifiers. Geek Slate lost, but in a struggle, with a score of 1-2.
Next up for skem and company was a match against UD Vessuwan. Geek Slate were a head and shoulders above their counterparts, beating them 2-0.
In the previous round of the lower grid Geek Slate played against Neon Esports. The match was quite difficult for the skem team, but after winning the series with a score of 2-1 they continue their march on the lower grid, where they fell after the defeat from SMG.
The most popular Geek Slate characters
Undying remains the most popular Geek Slate character. The character has peaked 9 times, of which he won 7 matches.
Lina has appeared in 8 matches and has a 75% win rate. Also picked DOOM in 8 games, winning half of their games.
Enigma has appeared in 7 matches in spades with 71% wins, while Mirana, with a similar number of matches, has a crushing winrate of 28%.
Bleed Esports - Geek Slate head-to-head history
The teams have played each other twice over the course of DPC 2023. Each club has one win.
Predicted result of the match Bleed Esports - Geek Slate within The International 2023 - SEA Qualifiers
In this match, I'm not ready to call Bleed Esports the winner of the series. I don't deny that Geek Slate will come through, but the way Bleed performed in the match against Blacklist, and especially Iceiceice with his Meteor Hammer on Night Stalker, doesn't do them any honour. I realise Geek Slate isn't Blacklist level, but they did wring a card from SMG and beat Bleed over the course of the season. I'm sure they'll definitely be good enough for one card, and then it's just a matter of catching the live odds.
Bottom line: +1.5 on Geek Slate.
