Team Heretics buy LEC slot from Misfits Gaming

Over the past 24 hours, the entire League of Legends esports community in Europe has been raised by the news that one of the very recognizable LEC teams, Misfits Gaming, has already agreed to sell their slot at the tournament. And today we have received confirmation of this. The buyer and new owner was the team that many thought about - Team Heretics from the Spanish LVP.

This was officially reported to us by Riot Games themselves and the organizers of the LEC through the main Riot esports broadcast channel - lolesports.com In the same material, Riot Games thanked Misfits Gaming for their years of participation in the LEC and answered several frequently asked questions:

• Misftis' departure from the LEC will not affect their players' contracts in any way, which will be active until the end of the year.
• The organization's second team, the Misfits Premier, will continue to play in the LFL until at least the end of the 2022 season.
• The LEC has not received and does not receive any percentage from the sale of slots in the tournament and this is only between the teams themselves.
• Team Heretics went through a very strict and long selection, and then we will see them at LEC 2023, and not another team.

Team Heretic, or simply Heretics - as they were known before, this is a fairly large Spanish organization in eSports. They started out as a brand in 2016 and started out with Call of Duty, but have now expanded well and covered many more disciplines. The main ones are: CS:GO and League of Legends.

The organization had two League of Legends rosters: the main one in Spain, which played on the native LVP pro-scene in 2017, and later they had a collaboration with the notorious G2 in 2019, after which they continued to play on the Superliga, known as G2 Heretics, but in a different composition. And now, in the spring of 2022, they returned without a partnership, like Team Heretics at LVP SL 2022 Spring.

It is worth noting that at the larger LVP tournaments the team did not differ and took far from the best positions at the end of the events. But together with G2, they made it to the LVP SLO 2019 playoffs twice, both in the summer and in the spring, taking 3rd-6th places.

Judging by what we saw at the relatively recent LVP SL 2022 Spring, the team does not have great strength compared to the active participants in LEC Summer 2022.

But the team that will leave the main event of all of Europe next year, Misfits Gaming, is best known for their peppy burst onto the scene in 2016, when they qualified for the EU LCS Spring 2017 - Promotion and continued to the main stage in 2017. There they took 4th place at the spring split and 2nd place at EU LCS Summer 2017, losing only to G2 Esports. But even so, from that year's Summer Split Finals, the team made it to the Worlds 2017 and reached 5th-8th place, ending their journey in a game against T1, where they were forced to play 5 maps.

Now the team’s form has slightly deteriorated and for a long time, starting from the 2018 season, they were stuck in 4-6 places in the LEC. Undoubtedly an experienced and worthy team, but refreshing the main pro scene in Europe with a young team is also a good option.
