All participants of VCT 2022: North America Stage 1 Challengers have been determined. At the championship, which will be held online from February 11 to March 27, twelve North American teams will compete for a prize pool of $200,000, as well as two tickets to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Masters Stage 1.
Initially, Riot Games invited four teams to the championship that performed better than others last season: Sentinels, Team Envy, 100 Thieves and Cloud9.
Following the results of the first open qualifier, which ended at the end of January, four more teams were selected for VCT 2022: North America Stage 1 Challengers, namely Version1, XSET, The Guard and NRG. The last participants of the championship were Evil Geniuses, Knights, Luminosity Gaming and Rise, who proved themselves in the second open qualifier, which ended the day before.
Interestingly, VCT 2022: North America Stage 1 Challengers will miss out on some well-known teams including TSM, T1, Complexity Gaming, and FaZe Clan.
The championship will begin with the group stage, from which only eight teams will advance to the playoffs (four from each group). Based on the results of the playoffs of the tournament, tickets to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Masters Stage 1 will go to the teams that have qualified for the grand finals.
