OpTic Gaming beats DRX to advance to VALORANT Champions 2022 Grand Finals

The OpTic Gaming team outplayed DRX with a score of 3:2, thanks to which they made it to the grand finals of VALORANT Champions 2022. Here, the North American team will meet LOUD again, trying to take revenge for the defeat two days earlier.

The lower bracket final between OpTic Gaming and DRX started on the Bind map, which became the choice of the North American team. But if the first half went in an equal fight, then after the change of sides, the OpTic Gaming players managed to win back the lead and took the lead in the series — 13:11.

Next, the teams moved to the Breeze map, which was chosen by DRX. Now there was a little less struggle, since the North Americans instantly took control of the initiative and dictated their terms. The South Korean team failed to cope with this, allowing OpTic Gaming to get two match points — 13:5.

On the next Fracture map initiated by the OpTic Gaming team, things didn't look so rosy for the North Americans as DRX managed to get into the game. Moreover, the change of sides did not help Chet's wards, who allowed the opponent to recoup — 13:8.

Next, the teams moved to the Ascent map, which became the DRX's choice. And again, the South Korean team took control of the situation, managing to show two confident halves. As a result, DRX managed to bounce back in the series and transfer the fate of the fight to the deader — 13:6.

Everything was decided on the Haven map, where the fight went on until the final round. Despite a strong start, the North Americans began to let go of the initiative after the switchover. And yet, OpTic Gaming managed to keep the advantage in order to knock out the opponent from the championship, and then go to the grand final — 13:10.

VALORANT Champions 2022 takes place from August 31 to September 18 in Istanbul at the Volkswagen Arena. As part of the championship, sixteen teams from Europe, North and South America, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, China and Southeast Asia are fighting for a total prize pool of $1,000,000.
