RPG That Became Classic

The RPG genre is one of the most popular since the moment of its appearance: gamers from all over the world save it in a new game from year to year. There is always a lot of hype around new games, but classic games have already started to fade away. Today we are going to remember iconic RPGs that must be tried out by all fans of the genre.
Baldur’s Gate

The first RPG by the studio BioWare has almost immediately set a higher bar for all the other RPG developers. Former doctors (the founders of the studio were medical workers) worked really hard on its details and transferred the AD&D 2 board role system into the game, fitting the mechanics into it perfectly well. This helped its gamers to avoid any difficult calculations and constant need to learn a huge set of rules. Meanwhile, they kept absolutely all peculiarities of the game including the specifics of relationship between the characters with different worldviews.
The first part of the game had an outstanding plot with sophisticated characters and a well-developed universe. The latter was related to its board-game past as it is based on the universe of Forgotten Realms that appeared in 1985. Besides, we cannot ignore the scale of development of the title: the creators made an enormous universe, it will take at least 100 hours to explore it, and various ways of passing quests push its gamers to play it through again, as feeling the whole world there is impossible in one trip.
Fallout

1997 brought another iconic game that let people plunge into the post-nuclear future for the first time. In this view on the future, former America was burned down with nuclear blows by China that were enemies in a war for oil. The player gets the role of a dweller from Vault 13 that has to find a water chip to save people from lack of water. The character, as well as the player, knows nothing about what is happening in the world on the surface that, despite the terrible conditions for life, still continues its existence.
The first version of Fallout started one of the main role franchises in history. The biggest part of modern gamers knows and likes newer parts of the game, such as New Vegas or even Fallout 4, but the first part is worth your attention on condition that you can get used to its outdated graphics. The characteristics of the character have a huge impact on the gameplay, the plot is flexible and it adapts to the user’s actions and the open universe with a big number of interesting stories makes gamers explore this hostile world by themselves without involving them in the main quest as the most interesting tends to happen beyond it.
Gothic

Wonderful game whose basics are used by the studio Piranha Bytes even now. ining is a very important business in the kingdom of Myrtana as it is vital for the war with the orcs. The main miner is called Khorinis. It became a penal servitude for all criminals with any offense severity. To exclude the escape likelihood, the magic barrier was erected leaving no chance for the people to go out. The user controls the newcomer who gets inside the barrier with a mysterious note for Magicians of Fire at the beginning of the game.
Nonlinear structure provides a chance to become a member of one of three camps: Old, New, or Psionic. This choice will affect all the way of development of the character, while the main plot will only have little alterations. And a big open universe full of dangers (especially at the early stage of the game) appeals to almost anyone who will dare set out to the hostile Myrtana.
