K23 became Pinnacle Winter Series 1 champion
Pinnacle Winter Series 1 has come to an end. In the online championship, which took place from January 17 to February 2, 28 teams from Europe competed for a prize pool of $84,000. The winner of the tournament was the K23 team, which beat Apeks 2:1 in the grand final (Ancient - 16:10; Nuke - 12:16; Overpass - 16:11).
The tournament for the future winner began with the main Swiss stage, during which K23 outplayed GamerLegion (2:0), SKADE (2:1) and MOUZ NXT (2:0), losing only Endpoint (0:2). In the playoffs, the team only improved their game, first going through Sprout (2:0), and then making a sensation by outplaying Heroic (2:1). Already in the semi-final K23 looked like a favorite, actually not noticing the Copenhagen Flames (2:0).
In the decisive match, the team from the CIS quickly seized the initiative, managing to show a confident game at the opponent's peak. However, Apeks managed to get back into the game and level the score, boasting a solid defense on Nuke. And yet, on the decisive map, K23 managed to keep the starting advantage, thus scoring the first victory of the new season.
