FURIA and FaZe Clan got their first wins in the group stage of IEM Katowice 2022

The FURIA and FaZe Clan teams got their first wins in the IEM Katowice 2022 group stage, beating Astralis (2:0) and Team Liquid (2:1), respectively. Now the teams will go to the semi-finals of the upper bracket, where they will play with the winners of the remaining two pairs of group B. At the same time, Astralis and Team Liquid fell to the lower bracket of the group, where they will get another chance to reach the championship playoffs.

FURIA-Astralis

A colorful confrontation started on the Overpass map, which became the choice of the Danish team. However, the Brazilians started right off the bat, immediately seizing the advantage. Only closer to the equator did Astralis manage to close the gap, returning the intrigue to the duel. In the second half, FURIA again continued to bend its line, gradually increasing the lead. Here the Danes failed to do anything, allowing the Brazilians to take the lead in the series - 16:12.

Next, the teams moved to the Mirage map, which became the choice of FURIA. At the same time, the Brazilians again began to break the pace, quickly putting the opponent in the role of catching up. As a result, a confident start allowed FURIA players to get a comfortable advantage before switching sides, leaving big questions about the prospects of Astralis. In the second half, the Brazilians quickly took control of the situation, not letting the opponent get closer. Against this, the Danes have not been able to come up with anything, having recorded the first defeat at IEM Katowice 2022 - 16:11.

Team Liquid - FaZe Clan

The parallel meeting started on the Mirage map, which became the choice of FaZe Clan. At the same time, the North American team, having fought in the first half, managed to reveal their potential for the attack. At the same time, FaZe Clan failed to oppose anything to the opponent, allowing him to take the lead in the series — 16:11.

Next, the teams moved to Ancient, which turned out to be the choice of Team Liquid. However, here the Europeans already had an overwhelming advantage, closing the first half with a score of 12:3. After the knockdown, the North Americans failed to return to the game, allowing FaZe Clan to level the score and go to the destroyer — 16:6.

Everything was decided on the Inferno map, which started with an overwhelming advantage from FaZe Clan, which resulted in a twofold advantage in the score. After switching sides, the North Americans tried to return. However, the team from Europe managed not only to keep the gap, but also to increase it in order to reach the semi-finals of the group stage — 16:9.

IEM Katowice 2022 runs from 15 to 27 February. 24 teams from all over the world compete for a $1,000,000 prize pool.
