Copenhagen Games 2022 postponed to a later date
The Copenhagen Games 2022 has been postponed to a later date. The organizers reported that they failed to prepare for the start of the championship, which was scheduled for mid-April this year.
On February 1, all coronavirus restrictions were lifted in Denmark, and thus, after 2 years of absence, we have the opportunity to host the Copenhagen Games again.
As stated in the official announcement, the organizers faced a number of problems that prevented them from holding the championship on time.
Usually we prepared for the event for 6-8 months, which was quite normal. However, this time we had only 2 months, which created a number of difficulties:
- The global crisis in the IT industry with a shortage of chips has led to the fact that we could not find about 400 computers that we need for the Copenhagen Games 2022.
- There are many countries with various coronavirus restrictions that make travel difficult for many of our members.
- Many of our commercial partners and sponsors are not ready for this event, just as some have chosen other paths and other strategies. This means that we simply could not create a financial basis for the event.
- The rapid spread of the coronavirus in Denmark creates dangers for tournament participants.
Therefore, we had to abandon the Copenhagen Games 2022.
The organizers said that they would try to hold the championship in the summer, or, as a last resort, next year. They also said that all purchased tickets will be automatically returned within the next two weeks.
Recall that Copenhagen Games 2022 was planned to be held from April 14 to 16 in Denmark.
