The tournament operator ESL has provided information on the distribution of the prize pool, which will be offered to the participants of IEM Rio Major 2022. It is interesting that this time each team will receive its share of the profit, while at the previous major the prize pool was distributed among the participants of the Legends stage.
Recall that the day before, the tournament operator ESL officially announced the next major — IEM Rio Major 2022 will be held from October 31 to November 13. The first two stages of the championship will be held in a studio format. However, the playoffs of IEM Rio Major 2022, which is scheduled for November 10-13, will be held at the Jeunesse Arena, which can accommodate from 15,000 to 22,000 people. Like at the last major, the prize pool of IEM Rio Major 2022 will be $1,000,000.

- 1st place: $400,000.
- 2nd place: $180,000
- 3rd-4th place: $80,000.
- 5th-6th place: $40,000.
- 7th-8th place: $24,000
- 9th-12th place: $16,000
- 13th-16th place: $10,000.
- 17th-20th place: $4,500
- 21st-24th place: $2,500
Based on the information on the website of the tournament operator, IEM Rio Major 2022 may undergo changes in the format of the championship. This is evidenced by the distribution of the prize fund by places, which hints at the rejection of the usual Swiss system. In particular, according to the previous format, two teams were on the last line, as well as at IEM Rio Major 2022 their number was increased to four.
In addition, the changes may also affect the championship playoffs, since, based on the distribution of the prize fund, an additional stage will appear, dividing teams into 5-6 and 7-8 places.
