FaZe Clan becomes the first participant of IEM Rio Major 2022

The FaZe Clan team turned out to be stronger than Sprout at the IEM Road to Rio 2022 European RMR A, thanks to which they directly made their way to the "legends" stage of the upcoming IEM Rio Major 2022. Having won the third victory, the European team secured a place in the TOP-2 of the current RMR tournament and can prepare for the Major.

The confrontation between FaZe Clan and Sprout started on the Ancient map, which became the choice of the Danish team. At the same time, RobbaN's wards showed an excellent start, having managed to close half of the defense in their favor — 9:6. However, after switching sides, the Sprout players managed to wake up and switched the map to overtime. And yet here FaZe Clan did not let go, managing to take the lead in the series — 19:17.

Next, the teams moved to the Nuke map, which became the choice of FaZe Clan. At the same time, the Danish team played well for defense, managing to get a two-fold advantage in the score — 10:5. Despite FaZe Clan's attempts to turn the game around again, Sprout managed to hold back the opponent and equalize the score in the series at regular overtimes — 19:16.

Everything was decided on the Mirage map, where the Danish team completely fell apart and failed to impose a fight. In turn, FaZe Clan took control of the game in order to get the final victory in the series and qualify for the "legends" of the major - 16:5.

Note that the Sprout team can still qualify for IEM Rio Major 2022, as well as secure a direct entry to the Legends stage. To do this, the Danish team will need to get a victory in the next round of IEM Road to Rio 2022 European RMR A and, if necessary, win in tie-breaks.

IEM Rio Major 2022 will take place from October 31 to November 13 in Brazil at the Jeunesse Arena and at the Riocentro convention center. As part of the championship, 24 teams from the CIS, Europe, North and South America, and Asia will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000, ranking points in the BLAST Premier table, as well as tickets to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023 for the winner.
