The organizers are making changes to the format of ESL Challenger League Season 43: Europe
Tournament operator ESL has announced changes to the format of the ESL Challenger League Season 43: Europe. The number of participants who will join the fight on October 25 will be increased from 16 to 24 by adding teams from ESL Pro League Season 16. In addition, the organizers have shifted the focus from the group stage, thereby approving a single bracket.
We've updated the ESEA League Season 43 format for the ESL Challenger League in Europe to accommodate more teams moving from the ESL Pro League.
Instead of four groups in the GSL format with four teams, we will play in a double-elimination bracket, increasing the number of teams to 24. This new format combines the regular season and playoffs in one bracket to solve historical teams' problems with the number of games played, as they balance between qualifiers and other tournaments. This is especially important given the increase in the number of teams moving after the last season of the ESL Pro League.
Slot distribution format for ESL Challenger League Season 43 Europe:
- TOP-3 from each group at ESL Challenger League Season 42 Europe.
- TOP-2 from the Advanced division are PALOMA and Sangal Esports.
- TOP-4 from the intermediate tournament ECL Season 42 Relegation.
- Six teams from ESL Pro League Season 16.
ESL Challenger League Season 43: Europe will be held online from October 25 to December 18. As part of the championship, 24 teams from Europe and the CIS will compete for a total prize pool of $50,000, as well as a ticket to the ESL Pro League Conference Season 18.
