The Grayhound Gaming team lost to MIBR with a score of 1:2 and left IEM Katowice 2023. The Australian team suffered a second defeat in a row at the Play-In stage, thus saying goodbye to the championship and taking the last place. In turn, MIBR made it to the second round of the lower bracket, where they will play with fnatic for a place in the group stage of the tournament.
The match started on the Inferno map, which turned out to be the choice of the Australian team. However, Grayhound Gaming players could not recover for a long time on the side of the attack, in fact, giving the advantage to the opponent. In turn, the Brazilians took advantage of the given chances to close the half with a comfortable advantage - 9:6. After the change of sides, the Australian team still tried to return to the game and impose a fight. Nevertheless, MIBR managed to hold back the onslaught of their opponent and at the same time take the lead in the series — 16:13.
Next, the teams moved to the Anubis map, which became the choice of MIBR. The situation developed with a slight margin in favor of the Australians, who briefly took the lead. However, towards the end of the first half, the Brazilians were able to wake up and secure the minimum lead — 8:7. After the side switch, the fight escalated as the teams continued to trade in a series of rounds. And yet, in the very end, Grayhound Gaming managed to show a strong series to close the opponent's pick and even the score in the series — 16:14.
Everything was decided on the Vertigo map, where the Brazilian team began to quickly correct their mistakes and put pressure on the opponent with class. The Grayhound Gaming players could not cope with such pressure, allowing MIBR to get a confident victory — 16:2.
