Team G2 got a confident victory over BIG with a score of 2:0 at the start of the group stage of IEM Katowice 2023, thanks to which they reached the semi-finals of the upper bracket of their group. The opening meeting of the group stage began on the Anubis map, which became the choice of the German team. But if the starting segment was left for the players of G2, then before the changeover, BIG managed to wake up and secure the minimum lead — 8:7. After the change of sides, the Germans tried to continue the fight. However, in the very end, G2 managed to turn the tide of the match in order to break the opponent and take the lead in the series — 16:12.
