Heroic becomes the first Grand Finalist of IEM Katowice 2023In the semifinals of the championship, the Danish team confidently defeated NAVI with a score of 2:0 and got a chance to win a major trophy.The final semi-final of the event started on the Anubis map, which became the choice of the North American team. However, the "samurai" quickly seized the initiative on the server, having managed to win the opening firefight. However, closer to the changeover, Team Liquid managed to level the gap and snatch the minimum advantage — 8:7. After the side switch, the Liquid managed to win the pistol round, but here the Europeans made a powerful coup and killed any chances of the opponent. As a result, G2 Esports confidently finished playing on defense, thanks to which they took the lead in the series — 16:10.
Then the teams moved to the Inferno map, which turned out to be the choice of G2 Esports. Here the European team immediately took control of the game, gradually increasing the advantage. In turn, Team Liquid only had enough for single glimmers of hope, which never turned into full-fledged series. As a result, "samurai" confidently played in the attack to resolve all issues in advance - 11:4. After the switchover, the North Americans tried to get back into the game, but it was too late. Well, G2 Esports got the required rounds to resolve the issue of reaching the grand final of the tournament — 16:11.
