TheMongolz asserted their dominance on the Asian LAN scene by clinching victory in the highly competitive eXTREMSLAND 2023 tournament. Rebounding after a setback in the IEM Chengdu qualifier, where they fell to TYLOO after initially defeating them in the upper bracket, the Garidmagnai "bLitz" Byambasuren-led squad showcased resilience and skill throughout the event.
Navigating through the best-of-one matches in the group stage flawlessly, TheMongolz swiftly dealt with ACME before engaging in an epic 54-round battle on Inferno against TYLOO, ultimately emerging victorious with a score of 28-26.
Moving into the playoffs, they faced off against NKT, a team with a Mongolian majority and featuring Hyun-Pyo "XigN" Lee. Despite a formidable challenge that pushed the series to three maps and overtime in the decider, TheMongolz weathered the storm and secured the win.
In the grand final, TheMongolz clashed with Lynn Vision, an emerging force in Asian CS:GO since mid-2023, who had earlier defeated their compatriots TYLOO in the playoff opener. Following a closely contested Ancient that extended to a single overtime, with a score of 16-14, TheMongolz dominated LV with a 13-3 victory on Anubis, ultimately claiming the eXTREMSLAND 2023 title.
The tournament in Shanghai served as a notable opportunity for TheMongolz's recent addition, Munkhbold "Senzu" Azbayar, to exhibit his LAN prowess against the region's top teams.
