The battles in the second round of the DPC continue in Western Europe. The situation is close to boiling point, and we're looking forward to the start of the games.

Gaimin Gladiators and Entity will play in the first match of the new week. The top opener of an important leg of the second round.

Both teams are aiming high for the regular season and as a consequence a passage to The Berlin Major 2023. Both teams are close to it, but any mistake along the way could jeopardize their advancement to the top 4.

The Gaimin Gladiators approach the encounter from the top of the standings. The team has three wins in four games.

Entity will lock in the top 4, but share their place with Monaspa, Nigma Galaxy and Ooredoo Thunders. The team has 2 wins in 4 matches.

Gaimin Gladiators form

Since the Gladiators are well established at the top of the standings, let's start with an analysis of their form. Gaimin Gladiators are the favourites to win the game.

The bookmakers are almost certain of a Gaimin Gladiators win. The odds on the victory of the Lima Major 2023 champions are estimated at odds around 1.3.

Quite a suitable figure for the group stage leaders and you can't expect anything else. In the new season, the Gladiators are still a big threat and they still take down their opponents with the same ease, but not without exceptions.

Once again, the level of play of the GG's soppers can be noted. It seems to be the tOfu + Seleri duo that create the lion's share of the conditions for successful GG games.

Their Rubick and Treant are still a nightmare for opponents. The kores aren't far behind either, to be fair. The same DyrachYO seems to have almost stopped scoring, but this seems to me to be a temporary phenomenon, and we will soon see eccentric actions again from this curry player.

Gaimin Gladiators performance

GG finished the first season of Western Europe in second place. The team won 5 games out of 7, thus securing their position.

In addition to DPC they played in outside tournaments. One of these was the BB Xmas Show where the gladiators tried out their new line-up. They did it tastefully, winning the grand final of those very Team Spirit.

The club then played the BB Universe - Comics Zone. This time they failed to repeat the success of Xmas Show: Team Spirit knocked out GG, leaving them in 3rd place.

Having qualified for the Lima Major 2023, they easily won the championship. After winning Group A the team was determined for the final play-offs.

The team had not lost a single card in the main stage of the Lima Major 2023. The Gaimin Gladiators easily defeated Team Aster, Entity and twice beat Team Liquid (in the top-seed and grand final).

The winning streak over the Liquid continued in the new DPC season. In the opening game of the second round, the Gaimin Gladiators shut out Team Liquid 2-0.

Next up, GG played against Ooredoo Thunders. What should have ended in a beating of OT turned into a 2-1 victory for the latter.

After Ooredoo Thunders, Gaimin Gladiators risked losing to the other outsider of the tournament, the Greeks Monaspa. The match ended 2-1 in favor of GG, but the cards they took couldn't be called easy.

The situation stabilized only in the last match. GG stomped on OG without a chance, although the latter in the new season cause only sadness, and watching their games tiresome.

The heroes of the Gaimin Gladiators

The most successful characters are Treant Protector and Rubick (7 games and 77% wins each).

Nature`s Prophet has also been chosen 9 times, but has "only" 55% of wins. Other frequent picks for Gaimin Gladiators are Lina (8 matches, 75% wins), Undying (7 matches, 85% wins), Broodmother, Puck and Batrider (6 matches, 83% wins).

Entity Form

Entity will be on the other side of the barricades. Fishman and company will play as the underdog.

The bookmakers do not particularly believe in Entity's chances, but they still have some room for maneuver, especially in Western Europe. They put the odds at around 3.3 to win the series.

The underlying factor of Entity's status in this game is their performance in the course of the new season. The regular season has always been difficult for a European club and the new round is no exception.

Entity, like Gaimin Gladiators, have had no changes to their line-up. The team continues to probe the ground and improve the interaction between the players, who are still far from the level of synergy with Pur on the team.

Entity continue to bend the line and play in the last patch, although, to be fair, the drafts haven't changed much globally. The pool still contains the same heroes that dominated in the past, which should play to Entity's advantage: the same Invoker, Disruptor - what signatures for Entity? So far, it's been working with mixed success.

Entity's performance

Entity finished DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division - Tour 1 in fourth place. The squad played the regular season 4-3 before heading to round-robin play with Tundra Esports and OG.

After going through tiebreaks Entity went to the Lima Major 2023. Prior to that, they entered the top 4 of the BB Universe Comics Zone.

After the group stage, Entity made it to the top of the playoffs, from where they crashed out losing to the future champions from Gladiators. Entity's stay in the tournament was halted by Talon Esports, who created the biggest sensation of the past championship.

The first match in the second round was against Nigma Galaxy. Despite a sizeable lead, Entity had a difficult time, but came through with a 2-1 victory.

In the next match Entity faced the Greek Monaspa in the underdogs of the tournament. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Fishaman's team.

But with Tundra Esports was not easy. The International 2022 champions had no problem taking on a lesser title contender.

The Entity clash continued in the next series. Liquid, regaining their former confidence, easily crushed their opponents on two maps.

Entity's heroes

Treant Protector who had appeared in 8 games had a 62% win percentage. On a par with Treant is Rubick, who has also appeared 8 times and has a similar winning percentage.

Slightly worse is Undying with 50% win rate in the same 8 matches. Almost the only team playing the Invoker. Stormstormer rolled their signature 6 times and won 4.

Directly on DPC Entity play their favourite characters. Apart from Invoker by StormStormer we see Disruptor by Fishman, who has appeared in spades 3 times and won 2 matches.

History of head-to-head encounters

The teams played each other three times last season. At DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour I the Gladiators won 2-1, then at BB Comics Zone they won Entity by a similar score, and at Lima Major 2023 GG felt no opposition, closing the match 2-0.

In this game, I don't expect an even fight. Gaimin Gladiators are a head stronger than Entity and should not give up an important encounter.

Entity on the other hand are having a lot of trouble and are on the decline. We have already seen the team break down in the Lima Major 2023 and the situation is similar.
