We continue our review of the big commercial DreamLeague S20 event with a betting tee on Team Spirit vs Gaimin Gladiators. The pair open the third game of the clash, and the face-off between these clubs promises to be a hot one.
On the signings, we have the top two representatives from their respective regions. Team Spirit have literally won the local DPC league in Eastern Europe recently, while Gaimin Gladiators, although not nominally securing similar status in neighbouring Western Europe, have proved their mettle on the international stage.
Another game at The International is interesting in terms of standings. Both teams showed a lack of confidence in the second leg, to put it mildly, and now they need to put in more effort to reach the play-offs, which is what they should be doing in the upcoming game.
Let's try to see which team will be stronger in this match and earn an important win ahead of the climax of the second group stage of DreamLeague Season 20.

We'll start the breakdown with an analysis of the Gaimin Gladiators' form. In this match, the team will play at number one, which is not surprising.

GG's reputation in the 2023 season is not up for debate. The European club looks too monolithic, though lazy in some places.

The next DPC cycle in the domestic league ended even worse than the previous one. Then GG lost the tiebreaker for the top 2, but more than made up for the failure with their performance in the international arena. Even twice.
On the eve of the DPC Long Soppeg 2023: Tour 3, GG took the championship in two international arenas. They won DreamLeague S19 for $1,000,000 and The Berlin Major 2023, defending their status.
In the third round of the domestic league, the Gaimin Gladiators were expected to be one of the main contenders to win the league, but were unable to secure the regional championship. At the end of DPC 2023: WEU Tour 3 GG finished 2nd.

Going back to that very "laziness". To tell the truth, it's more like burnout or something close to it. Judge for yourself: GG play non-stop almost the entire year, and play in focus and peak 80% of the time (the remaining 20% are home DPC league games).
Hence the occasional mishap, such as at DreamLeague S20. The "lethargy" of the GGs was noticeable both in the first group stage and in the initial Group Stage 2 matches.

The most frequent pick was Rubick. The character has appeared in the GG pool eight times and has an 87% win rate.
Next are Pangolier (6 matches, 83% wins), Doom (6 matches, 66% wins), Keeper of the Light (5 matches, 80% wins), Ember Spirit (5 matches, 80% wins).
Also took Ember Spirit (4 matches, 100% wins), Terrorblade (4 matches, 75% wins).

Continuing the match analysis with Team Spirit's form analysis. They will oppose Gaimin Gladiators in the status of the outsider.
Bookmakers confirm the pre-match state of affairs. The odds on Spirit's victory are estimated at a modest figure of around 2.6.
The figure is not taken out of thin air, but looks quite logical. Spirit seem to be in limbo this season and are not particularly competitive at the international level.
In the first round of DPC 2023: EEU Division 1 Spirit finished 2nd. The Dragons were then prevented from winning by BB Team, who finished the tournament in first place at 7-0. After a home league appearance, Team Spirit attended The Lima Major 2023 where they finished in the top 8.
Later, the Spirit played the second round of their home league and again finished in the top-2. Going to The Berlin Major 2023 expected to improve the result of the previous Major, however, in the end, things only got worse: already in the top-12.
Despite "sluggish" international play, the Spirit still steadily make it through the Major groups and look like the main contender to win every game at home. That was the case in the third season of DPC 2023.
Spirit finished the final Eastern European cycle in first place. It took 3 tries to get the title in Eastern Europe.

DreamLeague S20 was, and still can be, a breath of fresh air for the stagnant Dragons. That's why they should also have more motivation than the GGs. Still, you wouldn't say anything has changed from Long Song of the second group stage. Although the team looked livelier in the first stage of the DL than in all the tournaments of the 2023 season before that.

Crystal Maiden tops the list of Team Spirit's most chosen characters. The character has appeared in spades six times and has an 83% win percentage.
In addition to Crystal Maiden, Disruptor and Underlord are also valued, having been spiked 5 times each with an 80% win rate. There was also Skywrath Mage (4 matches, 100% wins), Doom (4 matches, 75% wins), PL, Viper, Slark, Riki appeared 3 times each and has 100% wins.

Spirit and GG have played each other 5 times in this long season. The score is 3-2 in favour of Gaiming Gladiators, with Spirit's only wins coming in the local commercial event BB Xmas Show.
Result of the Match
In general, the format of DreamLeague and its appropriateness is quite a question. During the entire tournament I had the feeling that the championship is not really needed. However, for Spirit the event is more important.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't gamble on a win for the Dragons. Yes, GG don't play that well in this tournament and their loss to BB in Group Stage 2 round 1 proves it, but they can move in the class. Though not with a score of 2-0.
Bottom line: +1.5 on Spirit.
