PGL suspended peacemaker, hally and zakk from participation in PGL Major Antwerp 2022
The tournament operator has officially suspended peacemaker, hally, and zakk from participating in PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Earlier, ESIC filed charges against specialists who, to one degree or another, took advantage of a camera bug, thereby gaining an unfair advantage over their opponent.
As a result of ESIC investigations, peacemaker (Imperial Esports), hally (Team Spirit) and zakk (9z Team) have been suspended from participation in PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
Note that PGL is not a partner of ESIC, as pointed out by the Commission itself. However, the organizer responsible for holding the major did not go against the accusations, thereby forbidding the specialist to represent their teams at the championship.
According to ESIC, it was found that hally and zakk encountered the original version of the bug within one round in the case of the Russian specialist (then head of Espada) and one and a half rounds in two matches in the case of the Brazilian (representing 9z and Luminosity).
ESIC said it will use the same sanction matrix that it used back in September 2020 when dealing with cases related to the first type of bug. According to this and similar cases from the previous wave of bans, hally and zakk will be banned for up to 5 months, excluding potential concessions.
In turn, the peacemaker was found to have used a free roam variant in the 2018 matchup between Heroic and Imperial. This variant of the bug has been recognized as the most serious by ESIC and warrants a penalty equal to fraud, which is up to 24 months.
PGL Major Antwerp 2022 will take place from 9 to 22 May at the Antwerps Sportpaleis in Belgium. The championship will feature 24 teams from all over the world who will compete for a prize pool of $1,000,000, EPT and BLAST Premier ranking points, and a ticket to BLAST Premier: World Final 2022.
