NiKo, who plays for G2 Esports, shared his thoughts on the team's performance at the last PGL Major Antwerp 2022. According to the 25-year-old Bosnian esportsman, there were some disagreements within the team caused by differences in views on the game.
It doesn't matter that we lost to the teams that ended up in the playoffs, because our result is one big disappointment anyway. Of course, we could win some matches. For example, meetings with NAVI and Heroic, where we had an advantage. But in my opinion, we should be much more upset by the defeat from FURIA. I think that's where we made a big mistake during the veto, leaving Ancient in the pool. For us, the tournament turned out to be unsuccessful, especially considering our expectations. Going into the Legends stage, we felt confident, but after the very first match against NAVI, everything broke down, and the team could not find a way to get out of this hole.
I would say that now the team lacks a lot. Probably the first and most important point is the chemistry within the composition. We are working hard on this, but have not yet learned to think in the same way. Because of this, our teamplay suffers, during the game there is a feeling that something is going wrong. Of course, there are problems with the map pool. It seems that with IEM Katowice 2022 we never got a chance to play some maps. If you do not play certain maps for a long time, old habits are lost, rounds, timings are forgotten, and with them confidence. If you look at the history of our matches, over the past three months we have played only 3-4 maps. So this is also one of the reasons for our defeats.
Recall that G2 Esports took 9th-11th place in the PGL Major Antwerp 2022. In their last match, the team lost to FURIA with a score of 1:2 and did not make it to the playoffs.
