The Lima Major 2023: Tundra Esports and PSG.LGD leave the tournament

The second gaming day has ended as part of the final stage of The Lima Major 2023, the first Dota 2 tournament of the Major series this year. The fans watched three matches of the lower bracket, and we learned the names of the teams that finished in the top 12 of the championship. Earlier we wrote that Team Liquid is the last participant in the upper bracket semi-finals of The Lima Major 2023.

The first was the confrontation between Team Aster and Tundra Esports. Aster was faced with the task of outplaying the reigning world champions, and Tundra players did not want to leave the rating tournament so quickly. The teams first won one map each to show the competitive struggle in the decisive one. As a result, Team Aster advance to the next round of the lower bracket with a score of 2:1.

Then there was the main event for local fans who came to cheer for their compatriots at Arena 1. Evil Geniuses met beastcoast. On the first map, EG dealt with their opponent without any problems in 30 minutes with a score of 42:13. Then beastcoast tried to impose a fight, but as a result, Pandaboo and his teammates doubled the score in the series.

The game day was closed by the teams that gave us the memorable grand final of The International 2021, PSG.LGD and Team Spirit. The first map of confrontation turned out to be competitive. The clubs seized the initiative from each other, but in the end, the Spirit players won with a score of 25:25 in 43 minutes. Representatives of the Chinese region won the second map extremely confidently, equalizing the score in the series with a score of 32:9 in almost 40 minutes. On the decisive map, Team Spirit won, outplaying opponents with a score of 25:11 in 29 minutes.

At the end of the game day, we said goodbye to such eminent teams as PSG.LGD and Tundra Esports, and there was one less South American team in the playoffs. Evil Geniuses will face Team Aster in the next round of the lower bracket, while Team Spirit will be waiting for the winner of the Talon Esports vs HellRaisers match.

Recall that The Lima Major 2023 takes place from February 22 to March 5 this year in Lima, Peru. The venue will be Arena 1. 18 teams are fighting for a prize pool of $500,000 and 1,900 DPC points necessary to get to The International 2023. The champion, in addition to the winner's cup, will earn the main prize of $200,000 and 400 DPC points.
