Riot Games announced dates for the LoL European Championship 2022
The creators of League of Legends have finally revealed the details of the next season of the LEC. The event kicks off on January 14th and will include two superweeks.
The spring playoffs kick off on March 25. The final fights, according to the assumptions of Riot Games, will take place on April 9-10. The meetings will be held in LAN format, and as usual, the Berlin studio LEC from Riot Games was chosen as the venue.
LoL developers also announced the dates of the European Regional League. Accredited teams will start battles on January 10, while non-accredited teams will have to wait until the 17th.
Amazon European Masters Spring, in turn, will be held from April 4 to May 8.
The list of participants in the LoL European Championship has been slightly changed. FC Schalke 04 decided to sell their slot in the LEC and the e-sports club Team BDS acted as the buyer of this place. They will fight in the European league against teams such as Astralis, Excel Esports, Fnatic, G2 Esports, MAD Lions, Misfits Gaming, Rogue, SK Gaming and Team Vitality. According to Riot Games, this lineup will certainly provide us with intense and dramatic matches and victories of historic proportions.
The organizers decided to leave the way of holding the LEC the same as it was last year. The teams will come face to face in matches that will take place in two super weeks. In each of them there will be especially difficult periods, within which the teams will need to play for three days in a row without a break.
Riot Games said they value not only LAN attendees, but also the segment of the audience who watches the action through their monitors. In this regard, the developers have pleased the fans of League of Legends that they are working to improve the broadcasting, so that the experience is much more enjoyable than it was before.
The main intriguing teams will be MAD Lions and Fnatic. The former have repeatedly shown excellent results and now they have to try to retain the title of one of the strongest members of the LEC. Fnatic, in turn, lost productivity, which they could boast of for a long time. They have to catch up. The same can be said about G2 Esports, one of the strongest representatives of European LoL. G2 missed the World Championship for the first time in their history in this discipline and now their fans are eagerly awaiting the rise of the team.
There are many questions about how well Team BDS will perform and whether it was not in vain that they bought a slot from FC Schalke 04 to participate in the LoL European Championship. It should be extremely interesting to watch their debut.
